Eco friendly glamping close to nature in french countryside
At Nature’s Pace Holidays we now offer our eco-friendly wooden framed glamping tent to give you luxury close to nature in the beautiful french countryside
Our stylish Glamping tents sit in a meadow in the beautiful countryside of the Lauragais, an undiscovered corner of South West France between Toulouse and Carcassonne offering a truly unique holiday. Bringing together modern style and the tranquillity of nature, the tents feature amazing panoramic windows that provide natural light and roof windows to gaze at the stars at night. You can have all the fun of the outdoors with all the comfort of the indoors. Space to breathe but with your own private kitchen and shower!
There is plenty of space for all the family in the two bedrooms, one furnished with a double bed, the other with bunk or twin beds, all made up with organic cotton linens, both feature black out curtains for a great night’s sleep.
Meals can be enjoyed together inside and outside. The dining table and seating area with a comfortable sofa look out over the fields. Your tent is a short step to a private, ‘en-suite’ shower room and toilet with heated floors for a hot shower even in the cooler months. The private kitchen is your own to create wonderful meals inspired by the fabulous local markets and artisan producers. It is fully equipped with a combi microwave oven, gas hob and fridge.
The tents boast a lovely wooden deck surrounded by the wild flower meadow, the perfect environment to sit, relax and enjoy the views.
Our site has a shared outdoor, heated swimming pool, children’s play area, games and a small on site shop for essentials and local products. The shaded barn has space to eat, drink and relax. A place for camping, not a campsite.
We try to make holidays with us as sustainable as we can. For the tents and the building for the private shower room and kitchen , which we have built ourselves. We have used sustainable building methods such as reusing old tyres for foundations. We use an air-source heat pump for the hot water, all the linen is non-beached organic cotton and even the hot water bottles are made from sugarcane.
We also have solar panels for electricity and water. We use natural and environmentally friendly cleaning products. Our onsite shop stocks products from local producers that are organic where possible. We have lots more plans to do more to improve our ‘footprint’ such as as we replace our linen we are doing so using organic cotton. Peter also has plans for solar heating for the swimming pool!To find out more see our ListDirect page https://listdirect.co.uk/vendor/liz-peter-natures-pace-holidays-occitanie-france-holiday-let-gites-tent/
The Lauragai region has lots to offer with fabulous countryside, amazing history and delicious food heritage.
We are surrounded by lakes where you can swim, sail, paddle board, canoe, walk, ride and play. Lac Saint-Ferréol is part of the 17th century engineering system that maintains water levels in the Canal du Midi. This is the perfect place for a day out whatever the season or weather; walk around the lake, have a picnic, swim, sail or pedalo all afternoon. Lac de la Ganguise offers sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, tennis, horse riding, hiking, fishing and mountain biking. Lac de la Thesaque offers an inflatable water park in the hot summer months, pedalo and canoe hire, several cafes and restaurants and well maintained picnic areas.
Walking and cycling
The surrounding countryside offers both gentle and more challenging cycling and walking for all levels with many routes with views across the plain, hills and mountains. We can arrange bike hire for you. The Rigole (stream) which runs from Lac Saint-Ferreol to the Canal du Midi has an unmade cycle path suitable for mountain bikes to ride up to the lake or down to the Canal. Follow the Canal du Midi towards Castelnaudary and beyond or in the other direction towards Toulouse.
One of our passions is food, we are lucky to be surrounded by artisan producers whose products we stock in our on-site shop. Many of these are available for visits, so taste the beer, meet the producer. We even have an olive oil producer in our village who offers tasting visits in the Summer! We are located at the heart of the Lauragais agricultural landscape which gives us access to local food and a fascinating range of markets. The most famous are Revel and Mirepoix which are both held in medieval market places with a large range of both local and organic producers. Our nearest market is at Villefranche de Lauragais every Friday where you can buy anything you need, and many things you did not know you needed
We are surrounded by a range of excellent restaurants ranging from the Relais de Riquet on the Canal du Midi which offers good quality traditional food at reasonable prices with an unexpectedly wide ranging wine selection and a cassoulet to take away or the more modern menu of Le Pas de Narouze located by the Bassin de Naurouze on the Canal du Midi offering very reasonably priced set menus serving high quality modern French food. For a more special gourmet experience there is L’ Auberge du Poids Public in the historic village of Saint Felix de Lauragais. The dining room boasts fabulous views across the Pleine de Lauragais and outstanding food including a vegetarian menu. It is mentioned in the Michelin Guide and is a great favourite with the locals for a special meal experience.
