Oaksberry, Self Catering Holiday Let Apartment in Rackenford
Broad Close Farm Holiday Apartments
A warm welcome awaits you here at our home in Rackenford. A peaceful, relaxing escape to the countryside and an excellent base for exploring Devon.
We have two one-bedroom self-catering apartments available for weekly breaks and longer. Each apartment has its own walled or fenced private courtyard. The apartments are adjacent to our farmhouse set on a smallholding surrounded by 16 acres of pasture land. Animals kept on site include sheep, cattle and pigs which can be viewed by arrangement.
The village of Rackenford is within a five minute level walk. The village has a shop and a thatched pub, The Stag Inn, rumoured to be the oldest in Devon. Unfortunately the Stag Inn is not always open so we recommend you check their website to see if it will be open when you wish to stay with is. There is a selection of good food available at The Stag Inn and also many other pubs and restaurants in the surrounding villages.
An idyllic location in the Devon countryside allowing easy access to both the North, South and East Devon Coasts and their award-winning beaches. A fantastic area for walking, with the Two Moors Way close by, and a large selection of easily accessible circular walks. Numerous National Trust properties and RHS Gardens are also within easy reach.
Exmoor National Park is a 20 minute drive and Dartmoor can be reached with a 45 minute drive.
The cities of Exeter (24 miles), Barnstaple (24 miles) and Taunton (28 miles) are all close by with leisure facilities, high street shops, restaurants, cinema, theatre and much more. The nearest town is Tiverton (8 miles) with its castle, canal, Grand Western Horseboat and National Trust property Knightshayes Court.
A fabulous base for exploring Devon and yet only 25 minutes from Junction 27 of the M5.
The larger apartment, Oaksberry, overlooks our walled fruit and vegetable garden. A bird feeder is positioned outside the dining table window providing an entertaining display by the varied selection of constant visitors. Never any guarantees with wildlife but we would be very surprised if you didn’t see a woodpecker during your stay.
The apartment has one bedroom with a King size bed, a bathroom including bath with shower, and a spacious high ceilinged open plan kitchen/lounge/diner. There is a further pull-down double bed in the lounge area enabling the accommodation of four people in this apartment. There is a wood burner in the lounge area, providing a warm and cosy place to stay in the colder winter months.
The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. There is a television, DVD Player and DAB radio, with bluetooth. Wi-fi is available free of charge, though it might be a little slower than you are used to. Bed linen and towels are provided.
Two dogs are welcome at an additional charge of £25 per dog per week.
A great site for bird watching and enjoying the night skies.
